Underdogs !        Publication Night Celebration

Thursday 2nd July 2026 Celebrate the publication of Underdogs, a novel about flapping in 1990s County Durham which follows 10-year-old George and his dad Reg as they get involved in a greyhound gambling ring led by charismatic former miner Bertie.

Underdogs is written by Louise Powell, who grew up going flapping at Easington and Wheatley Hill, has been a GBGB licensed trainer and has had a pup schooled on Star Pelaw. All winners of the evening’s races will be given a free dedicated copy of Underdogs. There will also be opportunities to buy the book from a local independent bookseller and get them signed by Louise.
